Celebrating 30 years of excellence, The Junior Tamburitzans of South Hills is a performing folk ensemble based in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Come celebrate heritage and tradition at our 29th Annual Concert on Saturday, April 25th 2009.
Our group is one of about 30 Junior Tamburitzan groups in North America that strive to preserve and promote the folk arts of Central and Eastern Europe through dance, music, and song.
Our member students range from ages 6 to 18. Each student receives instruction and education in the art of tamburitza playing, folk dance, and song. Students also learn about the countries and cultures of Central and Eastern Europe. Through public performances, the group promotes public interest and awareness of the rich cultural diversity known throughout these European regions.
Folk dances and music are challenging and fun to learn. With the direction of experienced instructors, students are able to enjoy and develop music and dance talents. Each student is encouraged to perform to the best of their ability, and there is a place for everyone in the festival-like atmosphere of the group's performances.
